History:
In 1907, the Stone Lion Inn was a home to the Houghton family. Mr. Houghton was a father to 12 children. One
in which is believed to have died at an early age, in the home.
The home was soon transformed into a funeral home, and remained that way for several years.
In 1986, the Stone Lion was purchased and renovated into the Stone Lion Inn.
Today, the home hosts a murder mystery theater weekly,
in addition to being a bed and breakfast.
Haunting History & Eye witness Accounts:
- Random tobacco smell throughout the house
- Disembodied footsteps
- Shadowy figures in basement area
- Scraping, and/or rolling noise on hard wood floors
- Bedding being thrown on floor during guests' sleep
- Unexplainable noise on the third floor
Experiences:
Upon entering the home, I noticed a very nostalgic feel. Upon walking in, I felt welcome. It was
a very warm feeling.
Later that evening, we walked through the parlor and I begin hearing a faint female whisper,
over my shoulder.
We then entered the basement area. Here, I felt UNWELCOME. I could what seemed like an angry spirit
watching me. I wanted out immediatly.
That night, while everyone was in bed, around 2 a.m. the activity began. I heard what sounded
like childlike footsteps on the in hardwood floor. The steps continued up to the bed, and then it felt like a small child
crawled onto the bed inbetween my husband and I.
At this point my hair was in front of my face, and I watched it be placed behind my ear, and then my
cheek was patted. I nudged my husband who had been sleeping. As I was telling him what happened, his lips moved INwards, in
such a way that he could not duplicate by himself.
I am positive, that night, was my first night of a paranormal encounter. I was patted on the cheek,
and my husband was kissed.
Later, around 3 or 4 a.m. we awoke to hear whispering outside of our door. After the whispering stopped,
we heard a rolling noise on the floor in the hall. My husband described it as sounding like a beverage cart. We
thought maybe it was maid service , until we realized what time it was. Later that morning, after eating breakfast, we
were told no one else was in the house that night to be making that noise.
Upon leaving the Inn, I felt sad to be leaving. I almost wanted to wave goodbye to the child! (a psychic
impression made me feel as if this child was around 6-8, pale, blonde)
I will never forget my first paranormal experience. I hope to return to the Stone Lion Inn someday.
EVP Collected:
- Here, you will first hear a couple of our guys talking. After one says "Cool" the singing will begin, and it lasts
throughout the clip. To me, it reminds me of a child singing a nursery rhyme. I was the only female present, and at
the time, I was outside.
